The port of Pepel

The port of Pepel is a specialized port that handles iron ore and is situated on the Sierra Leone River, 24km up from Freetown, +at Latitude: 8°35’13.6896”N and Longitude: 13° 3′ 21.0924” W. The port consists of an iron ore loading pier managed and operated by Kingho Ports and Rail company. The charted depth along the river is 10.7 m, Vessels are allowed to load up to 8m at the jetty and continues their operations at the designated anchorages. An average of 40 ocean going cape vessels are loaded with iron ore from the port of Pepel annually.
