SIERRA LEONE PORTS AND HARBOURS AUTHORITY AND ITS CONCESSIONAIRES WELCOME THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR FAMILIARIZATION VISIT ON THURSDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2025.
The Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority, Mr. Yankuba Askia Bio welcomed the British High Commissioner for a familiarization visit aimed at enhancing collaboration on port security and operational efficiency. The leadership of Freetown Terminal Limited/AGL and the Director of Nectar Sierra Leone Break-Bulk Terminal (NSBT), were also in attendance and provided updates on their operations.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss pressing issues, particularly those related to drugs that have been affecting Sierra Leone.
During the discussions, both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures at the ports to combat the rising challenges posed by drug-related activities. The High Commissioner expressed UK’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone in addressing these critical concerns, highlighting the need for ongoing partnership.
Following the meeting, the delegation undertook a tour of key port facilities, including NSBT and FTL. This tour offered the British High Commissioner a firsthand insight into the operations and security protocols presently in place at the Port.
The visit further underscored the continued collaboration between Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom, focusing on enhancing port security and ensuring a safe and efficient Port operations.
